  1. The challenge

    A steep, multi-plane roof on a lakeside home wrapped in mature ivy and surrounded by old-growth trees. The roof was well past its life — moss, lichen, and decades of weathering — and the insurance claim had already been denied once.

  2. What Smart Builders did

    Justin re-inspected the roof, built the documentation, and got the claim reopened. Before any work started, we walked the homeowner through material and process options in detail; the choice was Brava composite cedar shake — the look of hand-split cedar in a composite roofing system. Tear-off and installation took three days, sequenced to protect the ivy, gardens, and landscaping around the entire perimeter.

  3. The result

    A complete roof replacement approved by the insurer, installed in three days, with the plantings intact and the site cleaned when done. In the homeowner's words: "I couldn't be happier."
